Our work with IDPs has taken us to several camps in seven states in Nigeria. Recently, we began working to support the displaced persons in Lagos after an outreach at the Church of the Brethren in Magodo on the 7th of June, 2015.
As part of our advocacy for the IDPs, Sesôr hosted the first premiere of a documentary screening on IDPs on September 30th at Whitespace in Ikoyi. Partners and friends of Sesôr were invited to the screening with the hopes of winning their support for the IDPs and their compassion.
The documentary which ran for a total of thirty-five minutes, described the harrowing experiences suffered by these northern people during the uprising attacks of the Boko Haram insurgency. The documentary was taped from the June 7th outreach in Magodo where Sesôr and her team encountered a number of displaced people who fled the North for safety in Lagos. With the help of 3,6,5 Communications and sabinews.com, we interviewed six people -2 women, 3 men and a teenage boy- who have all been severely affected by the insurgency.
Many thanks to Whitespace, The Grooming Centre and our #GIVEITUP4IDPS supporters for making this possible. Stay tuned for more information as we unfold the documentary.
