Sesôr has been working in Benue State since 2010 to empower survivors of emergencies for a better life. Sesôr does this through providing relief materials and seeking sustainable ways to help survivors get back on their feet economically.
As part of its economic empowerment programme for survivors of the recent herdsman-farmer crisis in Benue State, Sesôr is working with a leading micro-finance institution in Nigeria to pilot an agri-financing product that would suit the needs of small-scale farmers in Benue State.
We seek a consultant to develop a loan product that would suit the financing needs of small-scale farmers in Benue State taking into account the seasonal nature of their business. The consultant must have an in-depth knowledge of the agricultural sector in Benue State and the financing needs of small-scale farmers. A good knowledge of finance would also be an advantage.
Terms of reference:
Carry out research on the nature of farming business and the financing needs of farmers in selected local government areas in Benue State (Guma, Kwande, Makurdi and Agatu LGAs)
Develop a loan product that would meet farmers’ financing needs.
Work with Sesôr and partners to see how the loan product can be operationalised.
The assignment will need to be completed within 30 days of signing the contract.
The ideal candidate will have:
At least 2 years’ experience in the agri-finance sector with practical skills in developing and implementing agricultural or rural finance projects;
Demonstrated knowledge of best practices in agri-finance;
A minimum first degree in a relevant field;
Strong communication skills.
