The Executive Director sitting among the PINE representatives and a member of the House of Representative House Committee for IDPs
Two weeks ago, Sesor joined other NGOs and stakeholders at the North East Humanitarian Multistakeholder Engagement Meeting convened by the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) under the supervision of the Vice President’s Office.
The meeting which held at Government House Maiduguri was declared open by Mr. Vice President himself (sorry, we could not get a selfie!) with several addresses by the Governor Kashim Shettima of Borno and the Director General of NEMA, Alhaji Sidi.
The Vice President, Prof. Yemi Osibanjo, addressing the guests
It was a packed two-days as the plan for rebuilding the North East was presented by the Presidential Initiative for the North East (PINE) team and all present brainstormed on effective communication, coordination and cooperation to rebuild the North East and help survivors of terror get their lives back. Sesor’s very own Ier Jonathan co-led the discussion on Cooperation along with representatives from PINE and the House of Reps.
The Stakeholders have since issued a joint communiqué from the meeting calling for, among other things, more effective communications and coordination of disasters and for stronger engagement with the private sector.
