Welcome to 2016 folks. Last year ended on a great note for us as we celebrated Christmas with displaced persons in Lekki. Thank you all for your support throughout 2015 and we look forward to a more fulfilling year with your support. The details of the celebration are below:
On the 17th of December 2015, Sesor and friends (FGGC Benin, Old Girls Association, Class of 85) visited displaced persons at the Church of the Brethren in Lekki. Relief items such as rice, noodles, water bottles, writing materials, sanitary items, vegetable oil, clothes, shoes and toys as well as food packs and drinks were donated to the over one hundred displaced women and children who were gathered at the church.
Speaking to some of the women, Asekome notes that they stressed the need for employment or any form of livelihood to fend for their families in the harsh host state – Lagos. One of them even preferred to go back to her state and face the option of dying at the hands of the Boko Haram terrorists than suffer with her family in Lagos. She says life is harder than she ever imagined it will be in Lagos and she hopes that a form of help comes soon.
Below are pictures from the celebration:
Sesôr salutes the courage, strength, quiet dignity, faith and sense of humour of these amazing survivors.
We thank all those who supported us in the outreach and those who accompanied us in the visit. Have a blessed and fruitful year.
